We have pioneered the development of a cutting-edge embedded device designed to operate an ultra-lightweight LED banner, seamlessly mounted and propelled by a drone. This innovative signage boasts an impressive high-resolution display, rendering crisp and visually striking text that remains distinctly legible even from considerable distances. To our knowledge, this marks the inception of a revolutionary commercial product, uniquely optimized for unparalleled lightweight performance. Notably, our design ensures compliance with safety regulations, enabling legal drone flights over crowds without the need for cumbersome waivers or permissions.
The comprehensive package comprises both the LED sign and its accompanying controller, ingeniously affixed to the drone through specialized hardware. Facilitating communication with the drone is an intermediary base station, strategically employed to maximize transmission distance and fortify system robustness, eliminating the need for the user to actively maintain the connection. To initiate interaction with the base station, users simply open a web browser and access our hosted application on the Internet. The application seamlessly interfaces with the base station, which, in turn, communicates with the drone.
Within the user interface, a series of straightforward operations are at the operator's disposal. An initial prerequisite involves enabling Bluetooth in the browser, a step vital to system setup. Despite its simplicity, this process stands out as a pivotal element. Once Bluetooth connectivity is established, users can effortlessly connect to the base station. In this configuration, the user's proximity to the base station takes precedence over the drone. Operating the LED screen becomes a breeze, with users inputting the desired text and selecting colors through an intuitive HTML color picker, allowing for a diverse array of customizable displays.
Text updates to the drone occur with near-instantaneous precision, overcoming only minimal latency. As long as the drone remains within the designated range, text updates are practically immediate. In the event the drone temporarily goes out of range, a straightforward solution is presented: the drone can be flown back within a reasonable distance and line of sight of the base station. Upon reestablishing proximity, the LED screen autonomously updates to showcase the most recent message sent.
Our LED screens are engineered to accommodate scenarios with multiple screens and operators. Picture this: numerous drones soaring through the same environment, each equipped with its unique LED screen. In such a setting, operators encounter no challenges adjusting the text on their respective screens. Consequently, the prospect of acquiring multiple screens for simultaneous use during a single event is not only feasible but also enhances the potential for dynamic and captivating displays.
